MamboFont
In The Beginning
What Was Missing?
It all started during China's Song Dynasty, around mid 11th century, Bi Sheng invented moving type printing, making a huge leap in printing technology. Four centuries later, a German guy called Johannes Gutenberg invented movable-type printing press, another milestone in typography. Then there was Nicolas Jenson, the inventor of Roman type, a better alternative to Gutenberg's Blackletter, as well as the ancestors of a great portion of modern fonts, most notably Centaur.
"If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.", originally from Bernard of Chartres, and made famous by Sir Isaac Newton (though it was kind of an insult to Robert Hooke), really speaks itself. Most aspects of human civilisation are built on our ancestors' founding, that includes typography, the art of making written characters readable.
